Bouncy Black Ball

Never thought that I would buy an exercise ball…the fact that I did so within a matter of hours proves the power of a good recommendation…

I first met Kath, when I was running an inset training day at her school. Sometime later she came to the Studio for Colour Coaching and I am now pleased to count her as a good friend and so much more than a client.

Kath has a waist to die for…in fact a figure to die for … she’s a very pretty, strawberry blond ‘spring’ lady…and yesterday, when she called for cosmetics, I asked her what her secret was…

Let me share Kath’s secret of a slim waist with you now…

Kath has balls…well in this case an exercise ball to be exact…

Poor lady has had severe back problems over the years, culminating in major surgery earlier this spring. So I was right in my initial statement that this girl has guts! She has been through the mill with her spinal challenges. So, I reckoned that if Kath could manage an exercise routine using a big bouncy ball so could I. Let’s face it she has a tummy as flat as an ironing board and for health reasons if no other that is something to aspire to! (See Blog entry - Take the Tummy Test)

Never one to hang about, I was off to town to purchase mine within a couple of hours…Kath did mention in the passing that worst part was pumping up the ball…and she wasn’t joking either. It must have taken me and bicycle pump more than thirty minutes to inflate the darned thing.

I am sure it will be worth the effort. So that was my extra exercise for yesterday.

Will keep you posted as to how me and my big black ball get along…and maybe Kath will post regular comments and words of encouragement and tips for all us ‘ball novices’…

My goal sheet which is posted on the back of my bedroom door, keeps reminding me every morning… “Fit as a flea for Catriona’s return!” - Just eighteen days, I am a girl on a slimming / trimming mission!

Do you have exercise ideas to share? Stories of success or failure with exercise equipment…we would love your comments…

Well I spent a lovely hour with Eilidh, during which time she shared with me, slimming tips and the story of the magic ball.
Feeling inspired I skipped off to Balls 'R' Us to find that there were so many to choose from that I fear I may have selected the wrong one.
Mine is small, purple and bobbly!!! I'm hoping that this won't reflect on my waistline.
Happy rolling, Eilidh

Recommend a high volume pump to inflate the ball. I purchase one yesterday and it made the job a lot easier. Ex

Good for you Eilidh, a few weeks ago I started a new health regeime even though I'm way over weight I decided not to lose weight. Instead I'm going to live healthily. Result, instead of concentrating on what I can't eat (and will miss) I'm concentrating on what I can eat (and can have). Also instead of changing my exercise and eating habits all at once I'm doing it one bit at a time. Making life so much easier.

It's just been reccommended to me to buy a Gym Ball and you paid half the price I did. I'm looking forward to introducing it in to my exercise regeime soon as I understand it's great for toning up the body so stick with it.

Thanks for that John. I like my bouncy black ball very much. Apart from my planned exercise slot, I sit on it during the TV ads and practice my pelvic tilts! (Kath recommended pelvic work for a flatter tum and more defined waistline)
Agree with the sentiments – the word diet is not one I like to use either.
I too am working at an improved lifestyle. Good luck with your healthier lifestyle and please pass on any ‘magic’ tips…

Thanks for the tip about the wrist weights, will ask my physio if I'm allowed to add that to my routine. John, well done for getting started, the hardest bit is over. May I suggest the word "routine" rather than "regime"? Sounds so much kinder and I wouldn't want to be part of a regime!!I love the idea of focusing on what I can eat not what I can't - I will use that in my eating routine from now on.Glad Eilidh has started this ball rolling (sorry all!)I will keep working at my waist - I have a reputation to keep up now!
