Mel made an appointment for Friday. “I need to do something about my weight and my waistline,” she stated. “Can you help me Eilidh?”
“It would be a pleasure,” I replied. I know how she feels!
Our daughter, Catriona returns home from her gap year in Australia as a size 8/10. How nice for her! I have not seen her for over a year now and she left at a 10/12 - a very beautiful rounded, curvaceous yet trim nineteen year old.
Now I know it says on my goal sheet:
Be as fit as a flea for Cat’s return …
But that was written in January and I seem to have lost my focus. So I am on an exercise and weight loss regime for the next thirty days and it is going to be great to work with Mel. We will support and motivate each other. Catriona is encouraging me and sends a daily text. Today’s suggestion was that I do more housework and hoovering! Don’t you just love that girl!
My actions thus far:
- Taking a brisk walk early each morning and bike ride in the evening (each activity lasts about 20 twenty minutes)
- Decreasing carbohydrates such as bread, potatoes - less brown rice and pasta too
- Increasing proteins such a fish, chicken and steak
- Eating lecithin with E as it acts as a natural emulsifier of fatty substances and kelp as it is important to the thyroid gland in helping to regulate the body's metabolic rate
No doubt this loss has been aided by the fact that I have cut out wine, chocolate and deserts…yes, you guessed…my husband, Jay is off on his adventures again!
Log on tomorrow and read what the experts say and take the test...

Mother dear, what the text actually said was,
"You have to run around the house with the hoover! Housework is the best calorie burner :)
Hava good dayee mum! Luv U! Cat xx
As someone who is notorious for arguing with tape measures, I won't be taking the test. However, I do have my blood pressure taken regularly and am always (well up to now anyway) told by doctors that I am exceptionally well, then comes the sting... for someone of 'my age'. It's crazy though because they've been saying that for years and my age has changed considerably so what do they really mean??. The readings are usually if anything on the low side which is just as well because the pace that I live at means if I had normal readings I'd have expired long ago! . Anyway, as triple chocolate chip muffins are the only things that stop me killing people when they do really silly things (PR people are not known for their patience) I'm not likely to go on a diet. That's my contribution to keeping the streets safe!
Fab, I can be a witness that you are doing what you say. Seen you walk the walk and ride the bike :) Keep up the excellent work good neighbour :) hee hee. I am watching you!
Well I have got my wedding coming up in less then 3 months, and my hen party in 6 weeks - agh!!!! this has really spured me on to loose some weight - its not how much you weigh or how others perceive you, its how YOU feel inside. I want to look like a princess on my wedding day and don't want to look at my wedding pictures and think, damn I wish I had put a bit of extra effort in to loose some weight. So with this in mind I purchased the book ' eat yourself thin' which accompanies the program currently on TV. It allows you to eat all the food you like but made to a healthier receipe and I don't feel like I have missed out on anything - I can still have a G&T with slimline for 55 calories - who said dieting was boring! I am also going on my exercise bike everyday for 20 minutes (except Sunday, the day of rest!) and i feel better - I have lost 2lb this week so feeling really positive!
So in 11 weeks time I want to have hit my target weight - watch this space! Clarex
